Corrections Policy

Where the Records Come From

Every permit record on PlainAlcohol mirrors the public TTB List of Permittees (April 2025). We reformat that file for browsing; we do not alter the underlying data. That means the system of record for a business name, address, permit number, or status is TTB — and official corrections happen there, not here.

Two Kinds of Issue

  • A value is wrong in TTB's record. If the public TTB file itself is inaccurate (for example, a misspelled name or an outdated status), the fix has to be made with TTB. Use the official TTB Public Permit Search to confirm the current status, and contact TTB to correct the underlying record. Once TTB publishes an updated list, the change flows through to PlainAlcohol.
  • A value is wrong on PlainAlcohol versus the TTB source. If our page shows something different from what the public TTB file says — a parsing, classification, or formatting error on our side — that is ours to fix, and we want to hear about it.

How to Report an Error

Email hello@plainalcohol.com or use our contact page. To help us act quickly, please include:

  • The exact URL of the affected page
  • The field or value you believe is wrong
  • What the value should be, and the TTB source that supports it

How We Handle It

For an error on our side versus the TTB source, we correct the page. For a value that is wrong in TTB's own record, we update when TTB publishes its next List of Permittees. We do not remove accurate public-record information on request; we will review removals only where information is materially inaccurate against the source or there is a legal basis under applicable law.
